    Basic Peer Counseling Training

Women and married couples who are interested in serving as counseling volunteers at the local Center for Women's Ministries must complete the Basic Peer Counseling Training course. The series includes a minimum of 14 two-hour sessions. See FAQs for information on training content. Missed sessions must be made up. The center will also ask you to commit to a minimum number of hours of service in return for the hours invested to train you. Call the center nearest you for dates and times.

    SAVE THE DATES:

    • The 2009 World Conference for the American Association of Christian Counselors is September 16-19 at the Gaylord-Opryland Hotel in Nashville TN. CWM-trained counseling volunteers are encouraged to attend these conferences, offered every other year, for advanced training. Go to www.aacc.net for registration information. You may make your own lodging arrangements or let CWM HQ know you want to stay in the room block at a nearby budget motel with other CWM volunteers.
    • 2009 marks the 20th Anniversary of founding of Center for Women's Ministries, Inc. An anniversary party is planned for October 10, 2009. Celebration begins at 11:30 with lunch at Genesis Church, 801 E. SR 45/46 Bypass, Bloomington IN, and will end around 5 pm. We look forward to client and volunteer alumni coming back to join the party, and perhaps share what God has been doing in your life! Be sure we have your mailing address so you will receive an invitation in the summer newsletter! Come help us celebrate! RSVP no later than 9/25 to inatlcwm@centerforwomensministries.org or 812.333.1555.
    • Leadership Intensive Training #8 will be offered November 6-14, 2010. See the Leadership Intensive Training page for more information.
    • A Volunteer Retreat for all CWM volunteers will convene on Friday and Saturday, November 12-13, 2010, in conjunction with the end of LIT. The workshop schedule will be made available to center directors in the spring of 2010, and will be posted online. This is a very special gathering to fellowship with volunteers from around the country - maybe even around the world - and improve your peer counseling and other volunteer skills through advanced training workshops. The retreat concludes with a banquet recognizing LIT #8 graduates. Departure is best done Sunday morning, in daylight; this is deer country!
